Product Overview
Flimabend is a veterinary worming treatment containing flubendazole, designed for the control of internal parasites in pigs and poultry. Suitable for administration via drinking water systems, it provides effective treatment against a range of gastrointestinal worms.
Used in piglets, fattening pigs, sows and poultry, Flimabend supports animal health and productivity by controlling parasitic infections. This product is classified as POM-VPS and requires prescription by a qualified SQP.
How to use
Treatment of helminthiasis (adult stages and intestinal larval stages) in piglets, pigs for fattening and pregnant sows:
- 1 mg flubendazole (= 10 mg product) per kg body weight daily via oral administration during 5 days, i.e. 1 g of the product per 100 kg body weight daily for 5 days.
Treatment of helminthiasis (adult stages) in piglets and pigs for fattening:
- 2.5 mg flubendazole (= 25 mg product) per kg body weight daily via oral administration during 2 days, i.e. 2.5 g of the product per 100 kg body weight daily for 2 days.
Chickens – laying hens, breeders, pullets and broilers:
- 1.43 mg flubendazole (= 14.3 mg product) per kg body weight daily via oral administration during 7 days i.e. 1 g of the product per 70 kg body weight daily for 7 days.
This product requires an SQP to prescribe the product. An SQP will be in touch to discuss the following points to ensure the safe use of this product.
- The disease/condition of the animals requiring treatment
- The type of holding and the animals being treated
- The authorised veterinary medicines on the market, and their warnings and contra-indications
- The responsible use of medicines
- The requirement to prescribe the minimum amount of medicine needed for the treatment and condition presented (subject to the minimum pack size manufactured and whether the packs can be split without contravening the VMR
- The requirement for the person receiving the product to use it for an authorised use
- The abilities and competence of the person administering the product
